Repair Hair:Three Steps To Better Hair

Three Steps To Better Hair

How your hair damaged is

We’ve all heard that prevention is better than cure – but what if we have already done the damage and are looking to take better care of our hair from now on? Sometimes we’ve been in the mood to change up our hair – be it a haircut, hairstyles or even coloring and dyeing. These changes are exciting and most of the times are confidence boosters that really help us. A side effect of this, however, is damage. Sometimes haircuts, especially techniques such as feathering, can thin out our hair. Hairstyles can pull strands, causing them to snap. Dyeing hair dries it out, and makes it brittle. Here are three sure fire ways to take care of our hair – no matter what the damage is.

Three surefire ways

1. Use Oil

Various types of oil do different things for hair. It’s important to remember that there is such a thing as carrier oils (as a rule of thumb, they tend to be relatively thick) such as olive oil, coconut oil and avocado oil, as well as essential oils that are usually thinner and available in small bottles, such as lavender, tea tree and rosemary. Combinations of different oils will have different effects, and coconut oil as well as olive oil are two of the best oils to use as they shine, strengthen and smooth our hair follicles. They key is to use very little – just a drop – on the scalp, massaging it through to the ends the night before and washing it out the next day.

2 .Shampoo Less – Not More

Shampoo strips hair of its natural oils, so while it certainly does cleanse our hair, it also encourages oil production. If you can slowly phase yourself out of using shampoo every day (dry shampoo is a huge help!) then you can regulate the production of oil, thus ensuring your hair stays cleaner for longer. Use conditioner sparingly as well, and only on the roots, unless you have very thick hair. Nevertheless, avoid using it on your scalp.

3 .Use Less Heat

To everyone who uses a straightener and hairdryer every day – I’m sorry to say you’re damaging your hair quite a bit! Heat, whether in the form of straighteners/curlers or hot water baths or even being out and about in the sun, can damage hair. Try to get used to air drying hair, using a light leave in conditioner to prevent frizz. For curling, try old fashioned methods that include rolling up your hair and sleeping on it. If you’re adamant about straightening however, then use heat protective conditioner and do so sparingly.
